Advices and queries

Do you respect that of God in everyone though it may be expressed in unfamiliar ways or be difficult to discern? Each of us has a particular experience of God and each must find the way to be true to it. When words are strange or disturbing to you, try to sense where they come from and what has nourished the lives of others. Listen patiently and seek the truth which other people’s opinions may contain for you. Avoid hurtful criticism and provocative language. Do not allow the strength of your convictions to betray you into making statements or allegations that are unfair or untrue. Think it possible that you may be mistaken.

Dear Friends

I am just confirming that Friends decided last Sunday to continue holding Meeting for Worship on the first and third Sundays of the month until Christmas. We can review this again then.

We also talked over the the situation for asylum seekers in Doncaster. We will no doubt continue to consider this and what is happening with Afghani refugees.

The next MfW will be on Sunday 19 September and our next MfW for Business will be on Sunday 3 October.

We can carry on sitting at home at Meeting time as many have been and Woodbrooke continues to hold MfW on Sundays and through the week.

Silence is the language of God,all else is poor translation.

We are already one and we imagine we are not. And what we have to recover is our original unity. Whatever we have to be is what we are.

Quaker Worship

“What we are looking for is what is looking.”

 St. Francis of Assisi

Our life is love, and peace, and tenderness;
and bearing one with another,

and forgiving one another,
and not laying accusations one against another;
but praying one for another,
and helping one another up with a tender hand.
–Isaac Pennington, Letters, 1667
